During the meeting of the temporary working group in the fight against the pandemic, Havana’s Governor Reinaldo Garcia reported about two hospitals that are added to the 14 already existing where the highest-risk patients are currently being treated.
The incorporation of these care centers, one dedicated to minors and another to adults, raises the total number of beds above 3,200, Garcia stated in the presence of Prime Minister Manuel Marrero and the Vice President of the Republic Salvador Valdes.
The treatment possibilities in intensive and intermediate care units are also expanded to almost double the existing ones.
Another 20 hospitals will also join the 16 that so far have received confirmed patients with Covid-19 and who have a lower risk of aggravation, increasing the number of available beds to more than 5,000.
