About 80 people at a clinic in Mexico received a fake version of the drug, which appeared to have been physically harmless but offered no protection against coronavirus, according to the Wall Street Journal (WSJ).
Hugo López-Gatell, undersecretary of Health, said that no product was found that could harm these people´s health. The counterfeit versions were seized on February 17 in a kind of clandestine clinic, the official said.
The substance was found in beer coolers and had false batch numbers and expiration dates.
We are aware that in today’s environment driven by the ease of e-commerce there will be an increased number of counterfeiting and other illicit activities related to Covid-19 vaccine treatments, warned Pfizer.
