The permanent representative of Cuba to UNESCO, Yahima Esquivel, highlighted the importance of the event that will take place on April 30th on its tenth anniversary as a vehicle to promote peace, dialogue and sustainable development.
The event, framed in the Transculture program, which integrates Cuba, the Caribbean and the European Union through culture and creativity, will be held next Friday at 6:00 p.m. local time in Havana.
Cuban institutions such as the Ministry of Culture and the Jazz Plaza Festival will broadcast the musical meeting live on the social network Facebook.
UNESCO Director General Audrey Azoulay and renowned American musician Herbie Hancock announced the program to commemorate the 10th anniversary of International Jazz Day on April 30TH.
In addition to regional activities, there will be a world concert presented by actor Michael Douglas, broadcasted from the UNESCO headquarters in Paris and the United Nations in New York.
