Plans to rescue South African Airways airline are underway

Pretoria, Apr 21 (Prensa Latina) The interim CEO of South African Airways (SAA), Thomas Kgokolo, assured that plans are already underway to return the airline to the operational capacity it enjoyed in the past.

The process of retraining pilots and other flight personnel will begin shortly, and compliance with air safety protocols will be reviewed, he said.

In addition, he added, plans are underway to devise a marketing strategy aimed at winning back old customers and eventually gaining new markets.

The priority right now, he emphasized, is for SAA to resume flights.

The appointment of Kjokolo, a well-qualified chartered accountant with extensive experience as a non-executive director of several organizations, brings to a close the airline’s 15-month business rescue process, which was completed at the end of March.

The national flag carrier was placed under that status in December 2019 in the face of allegations of mismanagement.
