The message was signed by the Russian Committee for the Struggle against the Blockade, the Venceremos Social Movement, the Red Youth Vanguard, the I.V. Khlebnikov Workers’ University, the Red TV Creative Project and the editorial team of the Trudovaya Tyumen newspaper.
The press release highlights the life and political career of Diaz-Canel who won ‘our trust’ with his successful participation ‘in the solution of key tasks of socialist construction’.
It recalls that the new PCC first secretary assumed the presidency of the country during the difficult times of the tightening of the United States blockade, the Covid-19 pandemic, the world economic crisis and the implementation of new measures for the development of the island.
The Russian activists expressed their solidarity with the Cuban president in the face of ‘new attempts by the imperialist enemy to test the strength of socialist Cuba,’ the message said.
It means that the election of Diaz-Canel to the highest position in the party, on the 60th anniversary of the Cuban victory at Playa Giron (Bay of Pigs) ‘gives the right signal to both friends and enemies’.
The letter ratifies the Russian solidarity movements’ commitment to Cuba in support of the struggle for the elimination of the US blockade against the Caribbean nation, together with activists from all over the world.
