Iran’s meeting with nuclear agreement signatories ends in Vienna

Tehran, Apr 20 (Prensa Latina) A meeting ended in Vienna, Austria, on Tuesday between Iran and the countries that signed the Joint Comprehensive Plan of Action (JCPOA) or nuclear agreement, which dedicated the sessions to save that multilateral consent.

Next week, they will return to discuss how to materialize a return by the United States to the deal Washington abandoned in 2018, and on the lifting of anti-Iran coercive measures imposed by the US Government.

The negotiators discussed the latest developments on the technical talks, drafts of a possible joint communiqué and how to resume the talks, Iran’s Mehr news agency reported.

Iranian Deputy Foreign Minister Abbas Aragchi stressed that the removal of US sanctions, for the Islamic republic the central issue of the meeting, remains unresolved, he said.

Araghchi explained that there is no temporary agreement or similar issues with the 4+1 group (United Kingdom, France, Russia and China plus Germany).

‘The Islamic Republic demands the removal of US oppressive measures and the rumors that there was a plan to lift them step by step or an interim agreement are false,’ he added.

Iranian officials reiterated that in the negotiations in Vienna, the priority is the defense of the country’s interests and positions.
