Over 500 well-qualified professionals and technicians participated in updating the atlas, the main editor of this work, Jose Miguel Marrero, explained in the context of the Cuban Geographer’s Day and the cancellation of four postage stamps allegorical to the map of the archipelago.
The work, made entirely with national talent, was structured in six thematic sessions.
It ranges from general and reference maps to nature, population, economy, strategic issues and history, the expert explained.
Marrero also commented that the multimedia version 1.1 presents 240 maps, 308 photos, 44 thematic texts and 134 graphs and tables, in addition to an adequate interactivity.
The ’60th Anniversary’ National Atlas of Cuba is presented in different platforms: multimedia format, website and a summarized version in an APK for mobile phones is planned, the specialist noted.
