After several efforts by Argentina´s Foreign Ministry, the Ministry of Agriculture, Livestock and Fisheries and the National Service of Agri-Food Health and Quality, access to the Peruvian market was reached so as to commercialize sour and sweet oranges, tangerines, grapefruit and real lemons, as well as walnuts.
In a videoconference, officials from both countries advanced in the phytosanitary access agreements for plant products of priority interest for bilateral trade, by agreeing on the phytosanitary import requirements to allow Argentina to export citrus fruits and walnuts to Peru.
In 2020, Argentina received US$3,7 billion in citrus fruits and US$4,4 billion in walnuts, therefore the opening of this market has a potential of US$8.3 billion for Argentina.
Likewise, the Foreign Ministry stressed that with access to the Peruvian market for both products, a great potential opens up.
