Prince Philip, the Duke of Edinburgh, passed away on April 9 at the age of 99 at Windsor Palace, where the royal couple took refuge from the Covid-19 pandemic.
After the death of the consort of the monarch, the UK government decreed eight days of national mourning, while public was asked to refrain from flocking together around Windsor Castle and other royal residences in order to prevent the spread of the Covid- 19 pandemic.
In keeping with present restrictions in the country due to the health crisis, the royal family decided that only 30 people: the Queen, her four children, grandchildren and Prince Philip´s three closest cousins, among others, would attend the funeral.
The Premier League also paid tribute to Felipe’s memory with two minutes´ silence before starting Saturday’s games, some of which changed the starting time so as not to interfere with the funeral.
