Through an official communique, Beijing emphasized that both allies overreached, addressed issues beyond the bilateral spectrum and even encouraged separatist purposes.

China warned Washington and Tokyo thus damage third parties’ interests, understanding and trust in the region, and at the same time jeopardize peace and stability in the Asia-Pacific area.

Beijing added that the issues of Taiwan, Hong Kong and Xinjiang only fall under China’s jurisdiction, while those related to the East and South Seas are under its sovereignty and maritime interests, and therefore does not admit intervention.

In this way, China responded to the joint statement by U.S. President Joe Biden and Japanese Prime Minister Yoshihide Suga on joining forces to counter China and promote the opening of the Indo-Pacific area.

Even the day before, its Foreign Ministry warned these powers not to meddle in internal issues or form circles against the country, otherwise they would force it to proceed with the corresponding measures.
