Venezuela’s anti-drug law to be submitted to public consultation

Caracas, Apr 15 (Prensa Latina) Venezuela´s National Assembly is today planning to submit to public consultation the bill for Organic Law on Drugs passed at the beginning of March, a parliamentary source reported.

Although schedule has not yet been defined, the legislative subcommittee for the Fight Against Drugs, Money Laundering and Antiterrorism has already appointed deputies who will act as coordinators for the process in each of the 23 states and Capital District.

First Vice President of Permanent Committee on Internal Policy of the Venezuelan Parliament Deputy Rosa León also said the bill is in consultation phase through various technological platforms established for such a purpose.

This bill was submitted by President Nicolás Maduro and subsequently passed by the National Assembly on March 2.

In this regard, the Head of the Parliamentary Committee on Internal Policy Pedro Carreño laid stress on the need to reinforce the legal norm to strengthen the fight against drug trafficking from Colombia to the United States.
