The problem was ‘due to a mistake’ caused by the Barrio Obrero Hospital, which applied the second Sinopharm vaccine doses to 48 health professionals who had previously received the first Coronavac shot, officials said.

The mistake caused the removal from office of Director Luis Villalba, Deputy Minister of Health and Social Welfare Hernán Martínez and Director of Immunization Héctor Castro told at a press conference.

‘Safety was not altered, since the two vaccines had the same characteristics, nor did adverse effects increase,’ Castro stressed, although he said that they are still waiting for other results from an audit on this subject.
