The Mexican president pointed out that he had not received any information on the visit in response to a question about it in his morning press conference at the National Palace, but confirmed that he had invited Harris to go to Chiapas, Tabasco and Campeche, states bordering Guatemala, so that she can see and verify the social and economic development programs.
The idea of the invitation, he added, is to see for herself the experience of supporting rural dwellers, producers, peasants, community members, with programs such as reforestation by sowing life, and its multiplier effect by creating jobs and wealth in the communities.
Obrador insisted on his criteria that these programs should be implemented in Central America, especially in El Salvador, Honduras and Nicaragua, which are the main migrant-issuing countries to the United States through Mexico.
