Celi, detained on Tuesday by the Attorney General’s Office was sent to Prison 4 in Quito.
During the operations, US$93,562 (in cash) were seized as well as documents, computers, data storage devices, among others.
Attorney General Diana Salazar presented 16 elements of conviction in the hearing to formulate charges in the case called ‘Las Torres’, who investigates acts of corruption in public company Petroecuador, the Comptroller’s Office and the General Secretariat of the presidency´s cabinet.
Seven people are deeply involved in the probe, including the Presidency´s former Secretary José Augusto Briones and other former officials.
In addition to the pre-trial custody, the National Court of Justice ordered to freeze bank accounts and a prohibition to alienate assets for the defendants.
