The United States Food and Drug Administration (FDA) and the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) ordered the use of the single-dose vaccine to stop ‘until further instructions.’ The Puerto Rican Health Ministry noted that cases related to blood clots have not been reported in the country.
‘We are deeply concerned and we will be vigilant, while we continue the vaccination with Pfizer and Moderna vaccines, so we will continue moving on over 100,000 doses that we receive weekly,’ Health Minister Carlos Mellado Lopez said.
The CDC and FDA announced in a joint press release on Tuesday that they are probing clots detected in six women in the days after vaccination.
