On behalf of French communists, Roussel acknowledged Cuba’s resistance against imperialist policies and the construction of an efficient social system of solidarity at the service of satisfying human needs, despite the economic, commercial and financial blockade imposed by the United States for 60 years.

In that regard, he highlighted the PCC leadership, and insisted on his wishes for the success of the forum, scheduled for April 16-19 to contribute to strengthening the organization.

The letter addressed to Raul Castro also highlights Cuba’s cooperation in the global fight against the Covid-19 pandemic and the efforts to develop its own vaccines to stop the SARS-CoV-2 coronavirus from spreading.

Roussel also confirmed the PCF’s commitment to carrying out initiatives to demand the lifting of the US blockade.

We will participate in the activities called to promote global solidarity with a view to the presentation, on June 23, of a new resolution in the UN General Assembly on the need to end the blockade, he said.
