Sorting out scuttlebutts that a global agreement had been reached with the governments of the United States, Guatemala and Honduras, the Mexican Foreign Secretariat indicated that the already existing deployment of Federal Forces on its southern border will continue.
It reiterated that its objective is to enforce its own immigration legislation, in order to aid migrants, mainly unaccompanied children, and crack down on human trafficking.
efShortly before, White House Spokeswoman Jen Psaki had said that Mexico increased to 10,000 troops on the border area as part of supposed new commitments with Washington.
But Mexican Foreign Secretariat cleared out hours later that these troops on the southern border were established for weeks in compliance with its immigration law.
