As a tribute to the 60th anniversary of the first ever human space flight by Yuri Gagarin aboard the Vostok-1 spacecraft, the exhibition has been on the https://gagarin2021.ru/ website since yesterday, April 12, in Russian, Spanish and English.
It includes images from TASS news agency on the Soviet cosmonaut’s visit to Cuba in July 1961, as well as his activities as first president of the Soviet-Cuban Friendship Society, created in 1964 with the participation of Ernesto Che Guevara.
There is also a documentary film by the Cuban Institute of Cinematographic Art and Industry (ICAIC), videos, audios and other photographs dedicated to the first astronaut of the planet.
Parallel to the virtual exhibition, ‘First: Gagarin and Cuba’ is also display in museums, libraries, planetariums, universities, schools, parks, among other public spaces in over 50 Russian cities.
According to the Russian Society of Friendship with Cuba, such effort was made possible by the support of its regional offices, the Cuban Institute of Friendship with the Peoples and the Cuban Embassy in Russia.
