The strategy, launched by President Abdel Fattah El-Sisi, aims to generate significant economic savings for the country by using clean and low-cost fuel, the official noted.
During his speech at the ceremony for the delivery of the first batch of natural gas vehicles, Al-Mulla stressed that the citizens who will benefit from the initiative will pay 50 percent of gasoline price.
There will be nearly a million cars operating with gas in three years, which will alleviate pressure on consumption of other conventional imported hydrocarbons such as oil and diesel, he pointed out.
In order to cover local consumption, the government is planning the installation of vehicle transformation and supply stations on the main roads, expressways and rural roads in the country’s 27 governorates.
Besides the oil ministry, the plan includes joint efforts of the ministries of finances, industry, the interior and local development.
