In an interview with France Press (AFP), Jorge Arreaza pointed out that the anti-covid vaccines Venezuela really needs would have already been purchased if coercive US measures were not imposed.
‘If Venezuela did not have its resources blocked abroad, we would have bought 30 million vaccines three months ago,’ he stressed.
Arreaza detailed that Venezuela has so far received just less than one million vaccines: 250,000 Sputnik V vaccine doses and 500,000 Sinopharm vaccines.
We hope the Pan American Health Organization (PAHO) will receive the resources for the purchase of vaccines in Venezuela through the Covax mechanism, the ones we are going to pay for.
At this time, Venezuela is going through a second wave of Covid-19 infections, which health authorities assured it is more contagious and lethal.
