The incident occurred off the coast of Djibouti, said the spokesman, adding that an investigation is underway to determine its origin and causes.
‘The investigation is being carried out, and all necessary measures will be taken, including reports to international organizations,’ he said.
Jatibzadeh commented that Saviz is a civilian ship deployed in the Red Sea as a landmark for the protection of Iranian ships against piracy in the Gulf of Aden, in the Indian Ocean.
Its function, the spokesman explained, was to serve as a floating logistics base to support escort missions, of which the International Maritime Organization was aware.
