From digital spaces, the Chilean institution disclosed reflections, letters and poems of the Nobel Prize for Literature in 1945, and in the city of Antofagasta, intellectuals arranged the Un Cuarto Propio debate for dialogue and reflection on female artistic creation.

Diplomat and teacher Gabriela Mistral, alias Lucila Godoy, was born on April 7, 1889 and is one of the most relevant figures of Chilean and Latin American literature with works such as ‘Desolacion’, ‘Tala’ and ‘Lagar.’

The Ministry also announced around 100 activities aimed at the promotion of reading and the enhancement of living indigenous authors, and their contemporary oral and written expressions from the National Reading Plan, which considers 2021 as The Year of Mapuche Voices.

In order to also commemorate the Month of the Book, from April 15 to May 15, the National Library will bolster the Cuentogram contest, aimed at creating narratives with text and images, and on April 23 there will be a panel discussion on Mapuche literature.

They will also arrange the literary ‘Confieso que he vivido’ and ‘Booktubers and bookstagrammers of public libraries’ contests, and on social networks the Santiago Severin Library will broadcast the Amado Libro videos, with readings of excerpts from readers’ favorite documents.
