The solidarity platform made a statement denouncing the US crusade in its efforts to suffocate Cuba, and highlighted the Caribbean island’s behavior in terms of human rights, which Washington intends to taint with the 2020 State Department’s unilateral report on the subject.
‘Despite the tight blockade, the island has developed five vaccines against Covid-19 and is fighting the pandemic in an exemplary way, showing the will to save its people and many men and women of the world, a position that denies any lies contained in the report,’ it stressed.
The US report, published last week, contains accusations of alleged extrajudicial executions, forced disappearances, torture and restrictions on freedom of expression.
‘Europe for Cuba’ rejected the objective of the United States to subdue Cuba with a series of actions that include destabilization through the stimulus and multimillion-dollar financing of the internal counterrevolution.
It also repudiated the tightening of the blockade by the administration of President Donald Trump (2017-2021), which adopted more than 240 measures, which are still in force in the government of President Joe Biden, who arrived at the White House on January 20.
‘Rarely in history has there been such a persistence in the will to vilify, to unjustly attack a sovereign country so viciously,’ the platform stated.
