According to the Director General of the United States Issues Department of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs Carlos Fernández de Cossío, Washington unscrupulously takes advantage of such a sensitive issue to attack governments that defend the sovereign right of their peoples to self-determination.

Fernández de Cossío called on the Charge d’Affaires of the US embassy in Havana Timothy Zúñiga-Brown and expressed his rejection of the 2020 State Department report on Human Rights released last week.

At the meeting, Fernández de Cossío described the report as misleading and politicized, and urged the US government to stop its discrediting campaign and put an end to this and other unilateral and meddling actions.

Cuba enjoys international prestige in the field of human rights, for its results in the promotion and protection of the human rights, as well as for its cooperation with UN mechanisms and its solidarity with other nations, Fernández de Cossío said.
