According to the analysis, published in the Cuban Journal of Biomedical Research, about the clinical-epidemiological peculiarities of those who were infected with this disease in Havana, people with blood group O and a history of asthma showed less danger of presenting symptoms.
The research confirmed age as the main risk factor in Havana that has the highest incidence rate in Cuba with respect to SARS-CoV-2, the pathogen that causes Covid-19, and a daily average of 561 cases.
Meanwhile, blood group O and a history of asthma could be considered a protection to develop severe forms of the disease.
These elements must be taken into account as part of the strategies for identifying the most vulnerable individuals, the inquiry points out.
This was an observational, analytical and cross-sectional study with 431 patients, aged one year and older and those Covid-19 convalescent ones. The average age was 45 years.
To continue inquiries about the incidence of Covid-19, Cuban health authorities will conduct a survey in the coming weeks in more than 3,000 homes in Havana.
