In his meeting with the ministers, Putin said the planned local programs will aim at ‘regions with a socioeconomic development level below the national average,’ according to the Presidency’s website.

The measures seek to boost the growth of the population’s real monetary income and investments in fixed assets, the Kremlin added.

Prime Minister of the Russian Federation, Mikhail Mishustin, and other senior officials of the executive were assigned with overseeing the implementation of the plan of actions.

Ten regions in Russia with the lowest socioeconomic indicators were identified in 2019: the Republics of Altai, Karelia, Tuva; the regions of Kurgan, Pskov and Kalmykia; as well as Adygea, Mari El, the territory of Altai and Chuvashia.

The Russian government appointed a representative in each of these regions and approved local development programs with a fund of 100 billion roubles (13,062,725 dollars) for their implementation.
