‘This is our perception… in his (Bolsonaro) first opportunity, he will attempt a self-coup to threaten both the Judiciary and political power,’ Molon, member of the Social-Democratic Party (center-left PSB), told UOL news portal.
Molon warned politicians not to get their hopes up too much, for ‘the president´s moment of calm is temporary. As soon as he feels threatened, he will mean to use the Armed Forces against Parliament.’
For legislator, government´s overbearing escalation is quite evident, ‘but to conduct a coup, Bolsonaro will really need to be backed up by the Armed Forces which, fortunately, have not allowed him to carry out his plans so far.’
Amid this crisis, opposition and Senate and Lower House minority leaders officially presented in latest assembly a new dismissal request against Bolsonaro.
Parliamentarians continue to state that Jair Bolsonaro attempts, in an authoritarian way, to misappropriate (for personal interests) of the Armed Forces, with ‘a clear threat to democracy.’
