Ambassador to Japan Miguel Angel Ramirez updated local business people about Cuba’s economy, which has been seriously affected by the negative effects of the Covid-19 pandemic and the tightening of the economic, commercial and financial blockade imposed by the United States during the Donald Trump administration.
The diplomat noted the new portfolio of foreign investment opportunities, which consists of 503 projects, as well as the creation and implementation of the single window for those activities to speed up and facilitate transactions.
Ramirez highlighted the achievements made in the Mariel Special Development Zone (ZEDM) and the attractive offers for Japanese entrepreneurs, particularly in the sectors of logistics, biotechnology, the biopharmaceutical industry and manufacture.
The ambassador referred to the upcoming sessions of the 8th Congress of the Communist Party of Cuba (PCC), whose debates and final documents will guarantee the continuity and progress in the implementation of the economic and social guidelines approved in the two previous PCC congresses, he noted.
