“The day on which the brave Venezuelan people gave their first cry and unleashed the beginning of a heroic history of struggle for freedom, independence, equality, and against colonialism in all its forms,” the president said on his Telegram account.
He recalled that it was in our historic and beloved Caracas where zambos, mestizos, mulattos, and patriotic soldiers, united as militiamen of the people, told the Captain General of the Spanish crown: “Enough is enough, out of Venezuela!”
And thus, he affirmed, a wonderful path began, which we can consider the first cry of a new era.
Maduro commemorated the 215th anniversary of that heroic moment and asserted that “the people are the same, the battle is the same, and victory belongs to us.”
Today, those people who were excluded, exploited, and enslaved are in political power in the Bolivarian Republic of Venezuela. “We will continue to be free and sovereign!” he reaffirmed.
The Foreign Minister of the Bolivarian Republic, Yván Gil, also emphasized that on this historic date, the Venezuelan people, inspired by the ideals of justice and freedom, rose up against the colonial yoke.
They then established a government that sought to guarantee the rights of citizens and the self-determination of our territory, he noted.
The head of diplomacy noted that in this celebration of this heroic feat, “we reaffirm our commitment to advance the defense of our sovereignty and dignity, within the framework of our second independence, forged by the Bolivarian Revolution.”
On the occasion of the commemorative date, civil and military authorities participated in a solemn ceremony at the National Pantheon, where the tricolor flag was raised by cadets from the Military Academy.
