The Ministry of Health (Minsa) said in a statement that since January 13, 69,920 Nicaraguan girls have been immunized here, which represents 52 percent of the target.
According to authorities of the health portfolio, the vaccines for this campaign are available nationwide from health centers and medical posts in health fairs in places of difficult access in this Central American nation.
This vaccination crusade developed by the Sandinista government together with Nicaraguan families, the community network, local authorities and health workers, corresponds to the 2025 cycle, and immunizes girls who did not receive their first dose in 2024.
The HPV vaccine, which is approximately 98 percent effective, is administered in two doses, one at the beginning of the year and the second six months later.
The prevention of cervical cancer is a public health priority for the government, which is why vaccination is an important tool for preventing the disease.
According to official data, a dose of HPV vaccine in private health centers in Nicaragua costs between 100 and 150 dollars, however, the Sandinista Executive guarantees it free of charge.
