The head of government reiterated Lebanon’s full commitment to the implementation of UN Security Council Resolution 1701 and the cessation of hostilities agreements, in force since November 27.

In turn, he affirmed that the Lebanese Army is the only responsible for protecting the borders and the State is the authority to decide on war and peace.

In a message on the cabinet’s X account, the head of the Executive warned again about the resumption of military operations on the southern border.

Salam called on Army Commander Rudolf Heikal to act swiftly to conduct the necessary investigations to uncover the parties behind the irresponsible rocket launching operation, which threatens the security and stability of the country.

The government called for intensifying efforts to investigate the perpetrators, arrest them and refer them to the competent justice.

He stressed the need to prevent the recurrence of such absurd acts and stressed the importance of completing the measures taken by the Lebanese army to restrict arms to the state.
