In an article for The Indian Express newspaper, Minister Jagat Prakash Nadda recalled that, with this objective, the intensified 100-day campaign against the deadly disease, recently concluded, was carried out since last December.
During this period, analyses were carried out with portable X-ray equipment with Artificial Intelligence programs on high-risk people such as diabetics, smokers, alcohol consumers, carriers of the human immunodeficiency virus, the elderly and domestic contacts of tuberculosis patients, he explained.
According to Prakash Nadda, suspected cases of tuberculosis were detected and confirmed by the relevant tests, which ensured the rapid identification and treatment of those infected.
He specified that the campaign reached all corners of the country, with examinations of almost 129 million people from vulnerable populations.
This effort led to the detection of 719,000 cases, of which 285,000 were asymptomatic, he said.
He also confirmed that the Ministry of Health and Family Welfare also offers personalized treatment to patients with tuberculosis under the Differentiated Attention program for the disease.
