A statement from the Italian Foreign Ministry indicates that Tajani will emphasize, at the EU Foreign Affairs Council, the importance his government attaches to “maintaining transatlantic unity” through close coordination between the regional community and the United States.
The meeting will address the conflict in Ukraine and the state of peace negotiations, in which Washington is playing a leading role, while the Europeans are demanding a space.
The current situation in the Middle East, especially “in Syria and Iran,” will be discussed at the forum, the release states.
Tajani will later participate in the ninth edition of the International Conference in Support of Syria, “as a testimony of Italy’s strong commitment to accompany the process of transition and reconciliation.”
There, “he will confirm Italy’s willingness to intervene to support and restore, together with its partners, the critical sectors of the country in order to alleviate the needs of the civilian population,” the source adds.
