This was stated by the Cuban Foreign Ministry Through X, on the occasion of the 80th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations between the two countries.

Bilateral relations are based on a commitment to open dialogue, cooperation and the promotion of trade and investment.

Canada is the second largest source of direct investment in Cuba, playing a significant role in mining, power, oil and gas, as well as some investment in renewable energy, agriculture/heavy equipment and tourism.

At the end of October 2024, when the cumulative number of international visitors to the country reached 1,844,858, Canadian tourists accounted for 39.4 per cent of the total and occupied the first position with 727,204 arrivals.
