“We will not allow the rights of our people, for which we have fought for decades with great sacrifices, to be infringed on,” the head of the Palestinian State warned in a statement.
Abbas described Trump’s latest remarks as a serious violation of international law.
Peace and stability in the Middle East will only be achieved with the establishment of a Palestinian State with East Jerusalem as its capital, he underscored.
“We will never give up our land, our rights, and our holy sites,” the President stressed, and noted that Gaza, along with the West Bank, are Palestinian territory.
In response to Trump’s words, Abbas called on United Nations Secretary-General Antonio Guterres to assume his responsibilities and abide by Security Council resolutions on the Palestinian issue.
