MINFAR declares people involved in accident in Cuba officially dead

Havana, Jan 15 (Prensa Latina) The Cuban Ministry of the Revolutionary Armed Forces (MINFAR) declared 13 combatants officially dead on Wednesday, after being killed in a fire in a warehouse of war material in the Military Region of Holguín (east).

The institution said in a press release that the extreme complexity that exists on the site of the explosions, the effects of the accumulated gases and the severe damage, as well as the real danger of collapses due to the structural damage to the work, have not allowed access to the place of the explosion.

The MINFAR explained that after the work done and the analysis by specialists, the investigative commission created by order of the FAR Minister, together with the competent investigative bodies, determined that there is no possibility of life in the place.

The text explained that after several days of intense work, it was established that the possible cause of the event is associated with an electrical failure caused by a short circuit inside the facility.

It recalled that from the first moments of the event, which occurred on January 7, authorities from the Communist Party, the Government, the main chiefs of the Military Region and the Army General Staff, as well as the Ministry of the Interior, went to the scene of the event.

A commission from the MINFAR joined them to investigate the causes and conditions that led to the event.

At the time the press release was drawn up, it was decided to inform the relatives of the victims about the outcome, the text stated.
