According to the mayor of Bogotá, Carlos Fernando Galán, since this morning more than 100 people try to control the flames that put at risk several hectares of this reserve located in the department of Cundinamarca, in the center of the nation.

He added that he was coordinating with the National Police so their helicopters could operate and help extinguish the fire as soon as possible.
“We continue to work hand in hand with the Governor of Cundinamarca, Cundinamarca Firefighters, National Parks and the National Risk Management Unit,” Galán also commented.
The Natural Park, known for its biodiversity and for being the location of reservoirs that supply water to millions of people, is already seriously affected by the fire, which began near the Chingaza lagoon, according to local media reports.
