Nicaraguan Parliament continues discussion of constitutional reforms

Managua, Jan 15 (Prensa Latina) The National Assembly (Parliament) continues with the discussion and approval, in the second legislature, of the law of partial reform to the political Constitution of Nicaragua.

Vice President Rosario Murillo reported that, as part of the schedule, the article referring to the State and the Nicaraguan nationality will be discussed and approved. “On Thursday, the rights, duties, and guarantees of our people, political rights, social rights of the family, individual rights, labor rights of the Peoples of the Caribbean Coast, national defense and security and citizen security,” will be on the table she said.

Murillo announced in the media of the citizen power that later, on the 22nd of this month, the deputies will discuss the articles on economy, and public finances, while on the 23rd they will do so on education and culture. “On the 28th, the organization of the State, general principles, presidency, legislative, judicial, electoral, all powers and the organs of oversight and control,” she announced.

Nicaraguan legislators will also discuss and approve the political-administrative division, municipalities, and communities of the Caribbean Coast, scheduled for the 29th, while final approval of the regulations is expected on the 30th of this month.

The Parliament reaffirmed that those who attempt against the sacred rights of the people contained in the Constitution will be considered traitors to the homeland.
