Venezuelan VP: Former Colombian President intends to threaten peace

Caracas, Jan 14 (Prensa Latina) Executive Vice President Delcy Rodriguez said that "Uribe's narco-paramilitarism" intends to threaten the peace and tranquility of Venezuela, which the Venezuelan people reject.

In a message released last night on Telegram, the vice president said that this current plunged our sister Colombia into “unprecedented violence, disturbed the political system due to narcotic relations” and now intends to threaten the peace and tranquility of Venezuela.

Rodriguez said that the Venezuelan people spoke clearly and loudly in rejection of “the attempts to violate our territorial sovereignty” by former Colombian President Alvaro Uribe (2002-2010) and his local allies of extremist fascism “led by a deranged and stateless puppet.” She also stressed that Venezuela will never allow such criminals to appropriate the popular will or occupy the political spaces that should be at the service of democracy, peace, and development. “In the voice of Commander (Hugo) Chavez, we respond to these criminals and cowardly vermin! Venezuela will remain at peace!” she reaffirmed.

Recently, several authorities joined the people in rejecting the statements of the former ruler, who, in a public act in Cucuta last Friday, called for “an international intervention, preferably endorsed by the United Nations” to oust the legitimate constitutional government of Nicolas Maduro, who was sworn in as President for a new six-year term on January 10th.

Uribe’s call was also joined on X by the fugitive from Venezuelan justice Leopoldo Lopez, who called to “seriously consider the proposal.”
