Lizt Alfonso Dance Cuba (LADC) and the Rocky Mountain Ballet Theater, from the United States, joined forces again to convene the second edition of the event from January 7 to 11, consisting of master classes, lectures, performances, and the Dance Challenge competition for professional and amateur dancers from various nations.
The competition was divided into contemporary/modern ballet, young choreographers (up to 30 years of age), and an open section for hip hop, flamenco, ballroom, tap dancing, and all ethnic-cultural dance forms.
Some of the winners, chosen by an international jury, will be the protagonists of the closing gala on Saturday, along with teachers, jury members, and other guest artists.
The audience will enjoy the art of dancers Andile Ndlovu, from South Africa and a member of the Washington Ballet; Domsa Radu (Romania), Corinne De Bock (Italy), Angel Vizcaino (Mexico), and a company from the Rocky Mountain Ballet Theater of the United States, among other foreign participants.
The first dancers from the National Ballet of Cuba (BNC) Grettel Morejon and Dani Hernandez will perform the third pas de deux of “Love Fear Loss,” choreographed by Ricardo Amarante, from Brazil. They recently danced for the first time at an all-star gala in Switzerland.
LADC, in turn, will present fragments of the Havana Phoenix show, which the company premiered in 2023. Choreographer Lizt Alfonso received the National Choreography Award from the National Association of Cuban Writers and Artists (UNEAC) with this show.
BBB Havbana 2025 ends as an event and a large part of its cast of national and international artists will move to Cienfuegos, in central Cuba, to perform at the Tomas Terry Theater on January 13.
