Venezuelan vice president acknowledges Cuba’s historic resistance

Caracas, Jan 9 (Prensa Latina) Venezuelan Executive Vice President Delcy Rodríguez on Thursday acknowledged in Caracas the decades of heroic and high-moral resistance by Cuba and its people.

Speaking at the inauguration of the World Anti-fascist Festival at the La Carlota Convention Center, the vice president underscored Cuba’s clarity, which was forged in the thought of José Martí and the historic leadership of Fidel Castro, who “continues to show us the way to the peoples of the world,” she stressed.

Rodríguez emphasized the fierceness and courage of the Cuban people “in not allowing themselves to be subdued despite the worst unilateral coercive measures and in the face of the most barbaric criminal blockade” imposed on Cuba by the United States for more than 60 years.

She pointed out that those decades of Cuba’s resistance also fueled this international anti-fascist movement.

The vice president wondered where Cuba is not a reference for what dignity should be, for the resistance of a people who wave their flag with joy and high morale, and stressed, “There is no space on this planet that does not recognize the Cuban Revolution and its legacy to the movements that rise up in struggle.”

The vice president of the economy sector also acknowledged the Sandinista Revolution and its significance for the peoples of Latin America, as well as the leadership of Commander Daniel Ortega in his resistance “very close to the empire, but without fear and dread.”

In this regard, she considered that it is the fierceness that recognizes and unites our peoples because there is no other way, and called to be radical against fascism.

She assured that the Venezuelan people have taught and will continue to teach lessons on what dignity should be.

The executive vice president recalled the emergence of this forum of struggle in September, which is attended by more than 35 social and political organizations, and delegations from more than 100 countries, who also came to attend the swearing-in of President Nicolás Maduro before the National Assembly.

Rodríguez called for its deepening and expansion, in addition to weaving networks, which call for this new era, in which fascism intends to take over all levels of humanity and our planet.

“There is no time to lose or to postpone, it is the time that humanity has called for to fight together against fascism, because there is no other time or tomorrow,” she added.

The executive vice president thanked those who came to support Venezuela and its people in their legitimate right to defend themselves, and noted that Venezuelans all over the country took to the streets with joy today to support the president.

Each Venezuelan is marching against fascism, for peace, tranquility, democracy and social happiness.
