Doha, Jan 8 (Prensa Latina) Cuba and Qatar on Wednesday recognized the opportunities for cooperation and the existing willingness to consolidate bilateral ties, Cuban Deputy Foreign Minister Gerardo Peñalver, who is on an official visit to the Arab nation, said.

Peñalver wrote on X that such willingness was expressed during a meeting with Qatari Minister of State for International Cooperation Mariam bint Ali bin Nasser Al-Misnad, whom she thanked for the support given after recent natural events in Cuba.

As part of his work program, the deputy Foreign Minister chaired the 3rd Round of Political Consultations with the Minister of State for Foreign Affairs, Sultan Bin Saad Sultan Al-Muraikhi.

The Qatari minister praised the work done by Cuban doctors at the Cuban hospital in Dukhan and at the Aisha Bint Hamad Al Attiyah hospital in Doha, which he described as very positive.

He also ratified the willingness to continue to foster cooperation in the health sector and strengthen economic and commercial ties.

According to a report from the Cuban Foreign Ministry, the deputy minister also met with Minister of Health Mansoor bin Ebrahim bin Saad Al-Mahmoud, and the general director of the Qatar Fund for Development, Fahad Hamad Al Sulaiti.

He also visited the Dukhan hospital where he met with a representation of Cuban collaborators and medical service directors who work there.
