Israel continues ground incursions in Syria

Damascus, Jan 8 (Prensa Latina) Israeli forces continued their violations of Syrian territory and carried out several ground incursions in the province of Quneitra, about 60 kilometers southwest of Damascus, the capital.

According to local activists, the Zionist troops advanced to the hills of Al-Humer, east of the city of Hadar, in the north of Quneitra, where they dynamited weapons depots and sabotaged military fortifications using bulldozers and tanks.

The invading forces declared the place a closed military zone and established a position in the place where there was an old abandoned Russian observation point on the eve of the fall of the government of Bashar Al-Assad, on the eighth of this month.

This incursion occurs after the Tel Aviv military penetrated the forest of the town of Jabatha al-Khashab, where they established new military points.

In addition, more than five hectares of agricultural land were destroyed in the town of Kudna, amid fears among residents that the incursion into new areas will continue without their withdrawal.

Israel intensified its attacks on Syrian territory during 2024, as part of an escalation campaign that began in 2018, under the pretext of fighting the Iranian presence and militias affiliated with Tehran.

Despite the fall of the Syrian regime on December 8 and the departure of pro-Iranian groups, Zionist airstrikes continued, focusing on destroying Syrian military capabilities of land, air and sea weapons. According to specialists, the number of Israeli attacks against Syria during the past year reached 373 and caused the destruction of 1,032 targets, including weapons and ammunition depots, military barracks, operation centers and vehicles belonging to the Syrian army.

They also caused the deaths of 414 soldiers and 68 civilians, including 13 children and 16 women.
