The Naumburg prosecutor’s office reported that a 52-year-old woman died in the hospital, the German news agency said.
Meanwhile, authorities indicated that four women, aged 45, 52, 67 and 75, and a nine-year-old child had previously died and 200 other people were injured in the December 20 attack.
According to the source, the suspect was identified as a Saudi doctor who arrived in Germany in 2006 and obtained permanent residency, who was arrested immediately after driving a rented car into a crowd at a market.
However, police noted that he did not fit the usual profile of perpetrators of extremist attacks.
The man described himself as a former Muslim who was highly critical of Islam and expressed his support for the far right on social media.
