A note published on the website of the specialized publication, TecnoAndroid, highlights that hackers managed to steal 5,5 million records, 1,1 million phone numbers, and 2,5 million email addresses, which can now be sold.
The cyberattack, which occurred on December 27th, was carried out against one of the external suppliers of Infocert, a company that is part of the Italian group Tinexta, specialized in digitization and computer security which, with about 10 million customers, annually bills about 140 million euros.
The company, which currently manages 1,8 million active PIDs and reports some 64 million annual accesses through its digital identity services, said in a statement that, despite the seriousness of this cyberattack, the integrity of its relevant internal systems was not affected.
Claudio Sono, cybersecurity specialist at the monitoring service Ransomfeed, said that “all that data now has value” and said that the consequences of these actions range from the use of data for phishing purposes, related to the fraudulent use of those people’s identity, to online or telephone scams.
