“We highly appreciate the multifaceted, mutually beneficial cooperation in the EEU, and we are sincerely interested in intensifying joint work to fully strengthen our integration partnership,” Putin said at the Eurasian Supreme Economic Council Summit in Saint Petersburg.
He indicated that the union was established as one of “the most independent and self-sufficient centers of the emerging multipolar world” and continues to develop.
According to the Russian president, the activity of the EEU fosters the development of trade and investment exchanges, as well as the promotion of business contacts and trade relations.
Putin stressed that the union brings “real benefits to each of its members,” as well as helps ensure stable and sustainable economic growth of the entire Eurasian region and the well-being of the states’ population.
The Russian head of State added that during the summit, the EEU leaders intended to take stock of the outgoing year and consider a number of important decisions to deepen cooperation within the union.
The EEU is an economic alliance made up of Armenia, Belarus, Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan and Russia, while Cuba, Moldova and Uzbekistan participate as observers.
