The person in charge of communication and sensitization in the Sukola I Grand Nord operational sector, Lieutenant Colonel Mak Hazukay, said in a communiqué that the insurgents dress civilians in Rwandan army uniforms and use them on the front line in clashes in Lubero territory, North Kivu province.
‘Coinciding information gathered on the various front lines and among those captured, in particular in Mambasa, near Alimbongo, confirms the deployment of young Congolese civilians dressed in Rwandan army uniforms to serve as cannon fodder during the fighting,’ the Agency quoted.
The DRC has repeatedly denounced the ‘terrorist’ actions of the M23, which is why the government refuses to negotiate directly with the armed group.
Hazukay also reported that the army shot down six kamikaze drones of the Rwandan special force over the town of Mambasa in Lubero.
This enclave remains at the center of clashes between the DRC armed forces and the M23 this week.
