The spokesman made these statements after learning of the arrival on the island of 38 M1A2T Abrams tanks, as part of a batch of military equipment provided by Washington.
According to Taiwan’s military authorities, the refueling, adaption, and training on these tanks is expected to begin in early February next year.
Chen recalled that the U.S. must abide by the “one China” principle and respect the three joint statements between the two countries, pledging not to support the island’s independence
He stressed that supplying weapons to that southern region only fosters risks and undermines cross-strait peace and stability.
The spokesman warned those who attempt to challenge China’s sovereignty not to underestimate the determination and capability of the Chinese people and government to defend territorial and national integrity.
