In a press conference with officials from the Ministry of Science and Technology in the region, the achievements in strategic sectors nationwide were presented, being the University of Camagüey responsible for six agroindustrial and biotechnological projects, the latter in collaboration of the Genetic Engineering Center.
At the same time, and with the support of foreign institutions, the University of Camagüey is developing four animal feed programs, two of which are related to shrimp farming, led by the Faculty of Chemistry and Food.
Eight programs are related to the development of the circular economy, accounting and auditing, and linked to the strategic management of territorial development, where private sector companies are also involved.
Known as the Science and Technology Interface Company UCETID S.A., also responsible for the commercialization of scientific products and the export of academic services, the institution already has results of research in Information Technology and energy efficiency, which are in high demand in Cuba’s current situation.
The first university founded by the Cuban Revolution in 1967 is also responsible for publications in 133 journals, the registration of 22 software programs, as well as 11 international collaboration projects.
The creation of this type of company in Cuba aims to put innovation and technology at the service of real impact on Cuban society and the solution of economic and environmental problems in times that demand the leadership of science.
