President Joe Biden recently signed a bill that reinforces US defense and security policies in the context of growing geopolitical competition with China, particularly in the areas of military security, trade, and technology.
According to Foreign Ministry spokeswoman Mao Ning, Washington repeats the same pattern every year presenting Beijing as a threat. Mao rejected military support for Taiwan and questioned the abuse of national power to suppress China’s economic and technological development while restricting trade and cultural exchanges between the two countries.
The spokeswoman stressed that such moves undermine bilateral efforts to stabilize relations while harming China’s sovereignty, security, and development interests. She urged the United States to abandon its Cold War mentality and ideological prejudices and take an objective and rational view of China’s development and bilateral relationship. She also called on Washington to respect the “one China” principle, abide by the three joint communiques between the two countries, and stop actions that politicize issues related to technology and trade.
During the press conference, the spokeswoman stressed that Beijing will take firm measures to defend its national interests.
